HOW THE TWO-DEGREE RULE WORKS
- Founders and first-degree members may nominate.
- People nominated by a 1° member enter at 2° — the edge of the network. Second-degree members enjoy full access but cannot nominate unless a founder grants it.
- Each member may sponsor three friends. We are limiting numbers to keep this a private club.

THE PRIVACY CHARTER
TWO DEGREES — NOT THREE. HERE IS WHY.
Every reco you post travels to your friends and their friends — people you could name, or reach through one phone call — unless you choose otherwise. That is the entire point. At two degrees, anyone who reads your tip is accountable to somebody you know personally; a leak is traceable through a single introduction.
At three degrees, the arithmetic betrays you: in a club of our size, three degrees of a well-connected member is very nearly everyone. Abuse does not scale with audience — it scales with anonymity. Two degrees keeps every reader inside the reach of a raised eyebrow. Other networks learned this the hard way; we have chosen not to.
THE OPEN SHELF — YOUR CHOICE, EVERY TIME
When you post, the pen is yours: the default sends a reco to your two degrees and never further, but you may instead place it on the open shelf — visible to every member of the book. Nothing is ever opened up on your behalf, and no setting quietly changes it later. Two degrees unless you say otherwise — one tap, one reco at a time.
A reco posted to your two degrees appears on no extract but your own — it never travels beyond your circle, on paper or on screen. And your name is guarded even in generosity: a member may print a private extract of the book for friends beyond the walls — their own recos, plus the open shelf — and on those pages your name is removed before the ink dries. The intel may travel with a member; your identity never does.
YOUR PAGES ARE WATERMARKED
Every page of the book you open carries your membership number, woven faintly into the page itself. If a reco ever appears where it should not, the founders will know precisely whose copy left the walls. This is not a threat — it is the reason everyone here can write freely. Discretion that cannot be verified is merely hope.
THE DISCREET SECTIONS
Local Guides & Experts goes further: contributors' names are hidden from anyone beyond their closest circle. A recommendation for the person who runs your house is an act of deeper trust than one for a beach club, and the rails respect the difference.
NOTHING HERE IS PUBLIC — EVER
The book does not appear in search engines. There are no public profiles, no share buttons, no links that work for outsiders. What the founders see — and all they see — is an activity ledger kept for the administration of the club: who is feeding the book, and who is only dining from it.

Every recommendation appears here the moment a member posts it — already live on the site, nothing held back. Look each one over; open it to correct a line or add a photograph with your founder's pen, then tick it off. As the book grows, this is how nothing slips past you.
PROOF THE PAGES
One click reads every recommendation the way a printer's proofreader would: does the photograph actually load, is one missing altogether, is a web link too unwieldy for the printed page, is the destination or country blank. Run it once a week — ideally before The Note goes out — and after any big import.
THE GAZETTEER — RIGHT RECO, RIGHT TOWN
The audit flags any reco whose address names a different town in the book than the one it's filed under — a Venice address filed in Rome, and the like. Or pick a destination to leaf through everything filed there. Type the right town and MOVE; the reco travels instantly, everywhere it appears.
THE QUIET SHELF — KEEP IT, DON'T LEAD WITH IT
Some recos are worth keeping but not quite five-star enough to open the Book. Tick DON'T MAKE PROMINENT and the reco stays in its destination and category exactly as before, but never takes a leading slot on the home feed or the fresh strip. Untick to restore.
THE NOTE — THIS WEEK'S DIGEST
The book's week, assembled for you: new recommendations, upcoming events and new members from the last seven days. Add a line of your own, then copy it into a Resend broadcast to send to every member. The founder's weekly note — curated, never automatic.
THE MAP — DESTINATIONS & REGIONS
Tidy the map here. Rename a destination and every reco follows it (typos, duplicates — "Milano" into "Milan"). Give two places the same region — say "The Bahamas" for Nassau and Lyford Cay — and they cluster under one chip on the homepage.

Every page a member opens is watermarked with their membership number — if a reco ever surfaces outside the walls, the copy is traceable to its viewer.
