ADD INTEL

Sixty seconds. The name, the trick, who to ask for. That's it.
Added, quietly. Your reco is in the book — thank you for feeding it.
Pick a suggestion to tag the exact address — members get an "open in maps" link on your reco.
…or choose a photo or a short film from your library — it appears with your reco in the feed
This is the whole point of Carter's Book. Be specific enough that a friend could use it tomorrow.
The club default: your friends and their friends, never further.
On your phone: open cartersbook.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen — Carter's Book becomes an app, with the camera and "I'm there now" location built in.

MY CIRCLE

The friends your book is built on. Only you see this list — the book never publishes who knows whom.
YOUR CIRCLE —

Your recommendations travel to these friends and their friends — two degrees, never further. Know someone here already? Open their member page and tap “We know each other.”

THE MEMBERS

Everyone here was vouched for — and this page shows only your world: your friends and their friends, two degrees and never further. The full membership is never listed, to anyone. Click any member for their personal page of recommendations.

NOMINATE

The network stays two degrees deep. That is the product — guard it.

HOW THE TWO-DEGREE RULE WORKS

  1. Founders and first-degree members may nominate.
  2. People nominated by a 1° member enter at 2° — the edge of the network. Second-degree members enjoy full access but cannot nominate unless a founder grants it.
  3. Every nomination needs a second voucher — another member who knows the nominee personally.
  4. Each nominating member holds two nominations per year. Scarcity keeps them honest.
Must be an existing member who knows the nominee personally. They'll be asked to confirm inside the book.

MEMBER OFFERS

Negotiated for members only — quote your membership number and PIN. Never shared outside the book.

EVENTS

Members' tables, previews, tastings and takeovers — newest postings first, never public.

MEMBER CHATS

A city you need, a fixer you're missing, a school question — start a chat and let members build on it.

MESSAGES

Member to member, inside the walls — tips and intel never need to leave Carter's Book.

THE PRIVACY CHARTER

Why the book is built the way it is.

TWO DEGREES — NOT THREE. HERE IS WHY.

Every reco you post travels to your friends and their friends — people you could name, or reach through one phone call — unless you choose otherwise. That is the entire point. At two degrees, anyone who reads your tip is accountable to somebody you know personally; a leak is traceable through a single introduction.

At three degrees, the arithmetic betrays you: in a club of our size, three degrees of a well-connected member is very nearly everyone. Abuse does not scale with audience — it scales with anonymity. Two degrees keeps every reader inside the reach of a raised eyebrow. Other networks learned this the hard way; we have chosen not to.

THE OPEN SHELF — YOUR CHOICE, EVERY TIME

When you post, the pen is yours: the default sends a reco to your two degrees and never further, but you may instead place it on the open shelf — visible to every member of the book. Nothing is ever opened up on your behalf, and no setting quietly changes it later. Two degrees unless you say otherwise — one tap, one reco at a time.

A reco posted to your two degrees appears on no extract but your own — it never travels beyond your circle, on paper or on screen. And your name is guarded even in generosity: a member may print a private extract of the book for friends beyond the walls — their own recos, plus the open shelf — and on those pages your name is removed before the ink dries. The intel may travel with a member; your identity never does.

YOUR PAGES ARE WATERMARKED

Every page of the book you open carries your membership number, woven faintly into the page itself. If a reco ever appears where it should not, the founders will know precisely whose copy left the walls. This is not a threat — it is the reason everyone here can write freely. Discretion that cannot be verified is merely hope.

THE DISCREET SECTIONS

Medical and The Right People go further: contributors' names are hidden from anyone beyond their closest circle. A recommendation for a doctor or the person who runs your house is an act of deeper trust than one for a beach club, and the rails respect the difference.

NOTHING HERE IS PUBLIC — EVER

The book does not appear in search engines. There are no public profiles, no share buttons, no links that work for outsiders. What the founders see — and all they see — is an activity ledger kept for the administration of the club: who is feeding the book, and who is only dining from it.

FOUNDER'S DESK

Membership, vouches and the advertising slots — everything you manage, in one place.

SEAT A MEMBER

The one-button seating: they join the book, they're wired to your circle, and their sign-in key is cut — all at once. Text them their password and they're in.

CUT A NEW KEY

Forgotten or fumbled password? Pick the member, type a fresh one, done — no emails, no dashboards. Text it to them and they're in.

THE NOTE — THIS WEEK'S DIGEST

The book's week, assembled for you: new recommendations, upcoming events and new members from the last seven days. Add a line of your own, then copy it into a Resend broadcast to send to every member. The founder's weekly note — curated, never automatic.

THE MAP — DESTINATIONS & REGIONS

Tidy the map here. Rename a destination and every reco follows it (typos, duplicates — "Milano" into "Milan"). Give two places the same region — say "The Bahamas" for Nassau and Lyford Cay — and they cluster under one chip on the homepage.

MEMBER REGISTER & NOMINATION ALLOWANCES

Numbers F1–F100 are the first hundred. F3 to F10 are held back for you to assign personally. PINs are visible only here and in each member's welcome letter.

WIRE THE ROOM

You know who knows whom. Pick a member, then tick every friend of theirs — each tick saves itself instantly, joining the two circles on the spot. Untick to part them again. Filled ticks are connections that already exist.

THE ARCHIVE — EXPORT THE BOOK

One click gathers everything — members, recos, ratings, destinations, events, chats, the friendship graph — into a dated file in your Downloads. Click it weekly and keep the files somewhere safe; it's the club's insurance policy. (Photographs live separately in storage and aren't inside the file.)

MONTHLY REPORT — MEMBER ACTIVITY (LAST 30 DAYS)

Every page a member opens is watermarked with their membership number — if a reco ever surfaces outside the walls, the copy is traceable to its viewer.
